China’s fascination with popular UK sweets has seen a remarkable surge in recent years, driven by the allure of foreign brands and the growing influence of British culture. This burgeoning appetite is further fueled by online shopping platforms and international supermarkets, making these beloved UK sweets more accessible than ever in the heart of China.
Starting with the team in Belfast, we worked with the client to translate all marketing materials and prepare customs clearance documents before shipping samples to Sinowei Shanghai. Trademark protection was registered both in English and Chinese. Our team conducted in-depth market analysis, focusing on similar style sweets with chewy textures and UK origins.
Sinowei Studios created a series of brand graphics in Mandarin to introduce Chewie to the market through our Chinese social media. Product descriptions were uploaded in Sinowei’s B2B Chinese website. The team planned a double launch of Chewits sweets at the CIIE and FHC, Shanghai in November 2023. Chewie came to help us at the exhibition.
Since the launch in Q4 of 2023, Chewie and his range of sweets have been well received in China. The Juicy Bites and Xtreme sour chews have been particularly popular with sample buyer groups. The Sinowei team continue to establish the Chewits in China through engaging content and interactive campaigns, aiming to embed Chewie into the daily lives of consumers.
